The first-ever spring training game between the Angels and Cincinnati Reds seemed anything but historic. The Reds, who are in their first Cactus League season after moving from Florida, held the Angels to three hits in a 6-0 victory at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

Angels starter Trevor Reckling, one of the organization’s top pitching prospects, looked shaky in his two-inning stint, allowing one run and two hits, walking three, hitting a batter and throwing two wild pitches.

The left-hander was replaced by Sean O’Sullivan, who fared much better during a three-inning effort in which he allowed only one hit.

The Angels managed just three singles, by Brandon Wood, Mike Napoli and Mark Trumbo.
