Thirteen has become a lucky number for UCLA’s baseball team. The unbeaten Bruins won their 13th consecutive game on Sunday, beating Oklahoma 5-2 to sweep three games in the Whataburger College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas.

UCLA’s 13-game winning streak is the school’s longest since the 1969 season. Left-hander Rob Rasmussen allowed one run and four hits through six innings. Dan Klein threw two scoreless innings to pick up his third save.

And it’s Klein’s contributions that have been key to UCLA’s 13-0 start. The Bruins were supposed to have outstanding starting pitching, and Gerrit Cole, Trevor Bauer and Rasmussen have lived up to expectations. But UCLA’s relievers, led by Klein, have been critical to the best start to any season in the modern era of UCLA.
