Another coach with Tennessee connections has joined Lane Kiffin‘s staff.

USC announced Thursday that Aaron Ausmus, who was Tennessee’s strength and conditioning coach in 2009, had been hired to replace Chris Carlisle, who left USC to join Pete Carroll‘s staff with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

Ausmus, 35, worked as an assistant under Carlisle at USC from 2001-03 before leaving to become the strength and conditioning coach at Idaho in 2004.

Ausmus then moved to Mississippi, where he was strength and conditioning coach during Ed Orgeron’s three-year tenure as head coach from 2005-07. He was at North Texas in 2008 before returning to Tennessee, his alma mater.
