UFC 109 results (Couture vs. Coleman; Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg)

Recap of tonight's main fights at UFC 109 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas:

Mac Danzig d. Justin Buchholz by unanimous decision

Danzig threw a lot of kicks and knees but went down after a hard right by Buchholz. First round to Buchholz.

Danzig tried a choke and a triangle in round two, but Buchholz escaped each time. Danzig was pounding Buchholz as the round was ending. Round goes to Danzig.

Danzig dominated round three with punches and wins the round easily.

All three judges scored it 29-28 Danzig.

Matt Serra d. Frank Trigg via ref stoppage in round one

Serra knocks Trigg out with a right. Just a brutal knockout by Serra.

Paulo Thiago d. Mike Swick

Thaigo knocks down Swick with a left hook and chokes him out.

Chael Sonnen d. Nate Marquardt via unanimous decision for a shot at the UFC middleweight title

Sonnen took Marquardt down halfway through the round and pounds on him until the round ends, Round one goes to Sonnen.

Round two opens with another takedown by Sonnen. There's blood everywhere, but hard to tell where it's coming from. Coming from Marquardt from a cut under his eye. Sonnen with a series of elbows to the body. Another round for  Sonnen.

Round three is more of the same, until Marquardt catches Sonnen in a guillotine. Sonnen breaks it. Great fight. All three judges have it 30-27 Sonnen.
