As a gathering media throng waits to hear Tiger Woods’ first on-camera statement since shocking revelations about his private life began surfacing last year, it appears an immediate comeback to the PGA Tour is out of the picture.

The Associated Press reported Thursday that Woods will announce that he is returning to therapy and probably will not disclose when he is planning on returning to golf.

Still, this hasn’t stopped a small army of reporters and television cameras from converging on the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., where Woods is expected to make a public apology at 8 a.m. PST. Woods will make the statement in front of a select group of reporters and only one video camera will broadcast the event. Woods will not answer questions.

Woods’ private life hit the headlines in November, when allegations surfaced that he had cheated on his wife. He later admitted that he was unfaithful and announced in December he would take an indefinite leave from golf.
