Six employees of a Mexico City bar have been charged with covering for the suspect in the shooting of Paraguayan soccer star Salvador Cabanas.

Mexico City prosecutors say waiters and other bar staff aided in the shooting suspect’s escape and later covered up evidence or failed to provide information to investigators.

The six employees are in custody and another employee has been detained on homicide charges. The man accused of shooting Cabanas remains at large.

Cabanas, who was expected to represent Paraguay in the World Cup in June, is recovering in a Mexico City hospital from a bullet wound to his head he suffered at the bar on Jan. 25.

Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo visited Cabanas on Sunday and reported he was hopeful, talking and exercising.
