Sweden’s Jesper Parnevik, who publicly came to the defense of Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin (who is also Swedish) shortly after information about Woods’ marital infidelities became public, shot a three-under 68 in the first round of the Northern Trust Open and is the early leader in the clubhouse.

The leader on the course so far is Dustin Johnson, who is seven-under after 17 holes. Johnson is a 29-year-old from Myrtle Beach, S.C. Two-time defending champion Phil Mickelson tees off at 12:14 in a threesome with two Aussies, Robert Allenby and Adam Scott.

Parnevik, who introduced Elin to Tiger, apologized for doing so in the first days after the scandal broke.
