Fred Couples, Corey Pavin, Paul Azinger to headline Toshiba Classic at Newport Beach
Fred Couples, Corey Pavin, Paul Azinger -- golfers we've all heard of --- will headline the field of the Toshiba Classic tournament March 1-7 at Newport Beach Country Club.
While the PGA Tour struggles to find an identity with its Tiger-less Tour (PGA winners so far this season -- Ryan Palmer, Bill Haas and Ben Crane -- seem to be fine gentlemen and are clearly excellent golfers) poll your average sports fan, or even golf fan, and see whose names are recognized.
Couples, Pavin and Azinger will be making their Toshiba Classic debuts. It is a stop on the Champions Tour, the place for golfers 50 and older. Couples is also playing this week at the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club, and all three plan to split time between the Champions Tour and the PGA Tour this year.
