TEMPE, Ariz. -- A group of Angels pitchers and catchers was just seen scurrying across the Tempe Diablo Stadium field and to the clubhouse in a heavy downpour, the third straight day rain has affected the team’s workouts.

Pitchers were able to throw off the mound in covered batting cages, but pitchers and catchers were unable to do their usual fielding drills Monday.

When rain shortened Sunday’s workout, Manager Mike Scioscia didn’t mind, because it was a light practice day. ‘If you’re going to have a day rained out, this is probably the best day for it,’ he said. He was not so accepting of the weather Monday, though.

‘There’s no good day for three straight days of rain,’ he said.

Position players underwent physicals Monday, and several, including Torii Hunter, Erick Aybar, Juan Rivera and Robb Quinlan, stopped by the complex to work out. The team’s first full-squad workout will be Tuesday.

Scioscia said there is a chance first baseman Kendry Morales and right fielder Bobby Abreu would miss Tuesday’s workout, Morales because he is completing the necessary paperwork to work in the U.S. and Abreu because of a personal matter.
