Angels catcher Jeff Mathis wins arbitration case: $1.3 million

Angels catcher Jeff Mathis won his arbitration case and agreed to a one-year, $1.3 million contract Friday. Mathis had asked for $1.3 million while the team had offered $700,000.

An agile defender, Mathis hit .211 with five home runs and 28 runs batted in last season.
