USC Coach Lane Kiffin began adding to his staff, announcing that former Tennessee assistant James Cregg will join the Trojans.

Cregg is the third coach from Kiffin’s Tennessee staff to move to USC. Ed Orgeron, the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, and defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin also were in Knoxville last season.

Cregg coached Tennessee’s offensive line and also was an offensive line assistant for the Oakland Raiders during Kiffin’s brief tenure with the NFL team. In a press release from USC, Kiffin did not specify what position group Cregg would coach at USC.

Cregg, 36, played at Norco High and was a graduate assistant at his college alma mater, Colorado State. He coached the defensive line at Colgate in 2000-03 and coached defensive line at Idaho in 2004-06 before joining the Raiders.
