UCLA football: Norm Chow to stay with Bruins
Chow’s status has been in doubt the last week after USC made contact with him in an attempt to lure him back as offensive coordinator under new head coach Lane Kiffin.
The USC possibility came at a time when Chow was seeking a contract extension from UCLA. He is in the final year of a three-year deal that will pay him $640,000 next season, including a $250,000 bonus if he is still the Bruins’ offensive coordinator the first day of spring practice.
The talk of an extension had already begun, but USC’s interest gave Chow leverage to push the process along. He is believed to have received assurances of the extension.
Chow did not respond to telephone or text messages.
UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel said on a morning radio show Wednesday that Chow was staying, but said later that the situation was the same as Tuesday, when Chow's status was up in the air.
