UCLA Coach Ben Howland did not have a lot to say about former UCLA forward Drew Gordon transferring to New Mexico.

‘We wish him the best,’ Howland said during a teleconference with reporters today.

Gordon, who abruptly left the Bruins early this season, will enroll at his new school immediately, his mother said.

‘It had everything he was looking for, the style of play they run, the type of offense,’ Shelly Gordon said. ‘He was looking for a team that really needed his athleticism and his speed and his size.’

The decision follows visits to Notre Dame, Nevada Las Vegas and San Diego State. Gordon could be eligible to play by midway through next season.

‘It’s an up-and-coming program,’ his mother said. ‘It really felt that way.’
