Salvador Cabanas remains in critical condition following shooting

CABA Paraguayan soccer player Salvador Cabanas remains in critical but stable condition today after being shot in the head Monday at a Mexico City bar.

Doctors told the Associated Press that Cabanas, 29, was showing signs of swelling around the brain and that he continued to be under heavy sedation.

Mexican authorities have identified Jose J. Balderas Garza as the primary suspect from surveillance videos near the scene of the shooting. He remains at large.

Cabanas is a star on Paraguay's national team and was slated to represent his country in the World Cup in June.
