Some notes before the Kings face Alexander Ovechkin (pictured at left) and the Washington Capitals:

Nice story in Canada’s Globe and Mail on Kings prospect Brandon Kozun. He was born in Los Angeles and lived here until he was 10, when his family moved to Calgary, Canada. He could have chosen to represent the U.S. in international competition but decided to take the tougher route and play for Canada -- and it has paid off for him.

You can only chuckle at the Kings’ announcement that Jeremy Roenick will contribute a video blog to the team’s website, www.lakings.com. Apparently, they found a way for him to earn the money he stole while ‘playing’ for them in the 2005-06 season, when he showed up out of shape as his own personal protest against the collective bargaining agreement that ended the lockout of 2004-05.

Former Kings Coach Andy Murray was fired by the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Speculation had been growing the last few weeks that players were tiring of him, but the team’s league-worst 6-13-3 record finally did him in. Prediction: He will become a TV analyst in Canada for a few weeks and then replace the next coach fired this season.
