A group of physically and developmentally disabled athletes will be recognized for an extraordinary feat Sunday before the Kings’ game against the New Jersey Devils.

Members of the group EveryBODY Skates New Jersey on Friday began a 1,370-mile mission to visit all 54 ice rinks in their state in 54 hours. Their mission: to demonstrate the value hockey has for those with a wide variety of disabilities, and to persuade rink owners to allocate an hour’s ice time a week for disabled hockey.

They’ve created a website, www.everybodyskates.com, that details their journey, which will end Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark.
