Mike Riley is staying at Oregon State

January 10, 2010 | 10:19 pm

Mikeriley_300 Oregon State announced tonight that football Coach Mike Riley is staying in Corvallis through at least the 2019 season.

Athletic Director Bob De Carolis announced that Riley, 56, had agreed to a three-year contract extension.

"Due to the fact there is a lot of speculation on my future, I want to make it known that I'm very excited to be coaching at Oregon State University and I anticipate doing so for a long time," Riley said in a statement released by the school.

Riley was in Orlando, attending the American Football Coaches Association convention.

Riley was USC's top choice to replace Pete Carroll, who is leaving the Trojans to become coach of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.

Details of Riley's new contract were not immediately available, but according to the school statement its length will roll over an additional year every time the Beavers make a bowl game appearance.
