Defenseman Jack Johnson, who developed a sore arm after he got in the middle of a hit during the second period of the Kings’ 4-1 victory at Columbus on Thursday, practiced with the team on a limited basis today and said he’s not sure he will play Saturday at Boston.

Johnson didn’t do any heavy passing or shooting during this morning’s workout at Nationwide Arena. Before accompanying the team on its charter flight he said he ‘would like to think’ he can play against the Bruins but will see how his arm feels tonight and Saturday.

‘I’ve got to make the smart decision long-term. Hopefully I can [play] but we’ll see,’ he said.

He limited his activity today, he said, ‘Because I’m not worried about practice, I’m worried about the games. There’s no sense in pushing it.

‘It’s a sore arm. It’s hopefully something that will get better each day and I’m hoping it gets better sooner than later.’

Davis Drewiske, who hasn’t played since he suffered an upper-body injury on Jan. 4, could replace him if necessary. Coach Terry Murray said Drewiske has gotten medical clearance to return to the lineup and added thast he hoped to be able to make a decision on Johnson Saturday morning, rather than waiting until gametime.

If he were a pitcher with that sore arm, Johnson said, it wouldn’t hold him out of a crucial game. ‘If it were in the seventh game I’d be playing, no question,’ he said. ‘It’s just something I hope gets better soon. Nothing too serious but it’s a pain right now.’

Murray said Quick will start again Saturday against the Bruins. Quick was the winner in the Kings’ 4-3 shootout victory over Boston on Jan. 16 at Staples Center.
