James Stewart, the reigning AMA Supercross champion, has spent the week in Florida meeting with doctors who are evaluating his condition after he sustained injuries during two crashes in Saturday night’s race at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Larry Brooks, the team manager for Stewart’s San Manuel Yamaha team, said the reigning AMA Supercross champion is expected to travel from his home in Florida to Angel Stadium for Saturday night’s race, but it will most likely be a race-time decision if he competes.

Stewart crashed with Chad Reed in the Phoenix race. Stewart injured his right wrist, shoulder and ankle in the crash. Reed broke his hand and is expected to miss the next six weeks.

Go to Haddock in the Paddock for a video interview with Brooks on Stewart’s condition and an interview with Josh Hill, one of the young riders who might be able to take advantage with the absence of Reed and possibly Stewart at Angel Stadium.
