James Stewart got off to a horrible start in the 2009 AMA Supercross season. He crashed with Chad Reed in the season opener at Angel Stadium last year. Stewart didn’t finish the race and ended up in 19th place in the Supercross standings after the first race of the season.

He won the next race in Phoenix, the start of a seven-race winning streak. He ended up with 11 wins in 2009 and had to rally to take over the lead in the AMA Supercross standings.

When he was presented with his 2009 AMA Supercross championship ring Thursday at Angel Stadium, Stewart quickly slipped it on his finger. He said winning the 2009 championship was a gratifying experience.
