Stop us if you’ve heard this before: Eric Gordon will not play tonight because of a sprained big toe on his left foot.

The Clippers have been giving that same injury update for three consecutive games now, and the absence of the second-year shooting guard could be especially costly tonight.

The Clippers will have to press on without Gordon on the road against the Atlantic Division-leading Boston Celtics, and the numbers don’t look good. The Clippers are 0-11 on the road against teams with records of .500 or better, and 1-4 on the road on the second night of back-to-back games.

Although Gordon said he expected to return during the current eight-game trip, Coach Mike Dunleavy said he still has no better idea of a timetable for when to expect him back.

‘He’s day to day, so we’ll keep going day to day,’ Dunleavy said this evening.

The Clippers defeated the Washington Wizards on Sunday to improve to 4-7 without Gordon, but a victory tonight would represent a true breakthrough.
