Clippers guard Eric Gordon expects to play against New Jersey Nets

Not that the Clippers will probably need him against the worst team in the NBA, but shooting guard Eric Gordon said this morning after the team’s shoot-around that he would play tonight against the New Jersey Nets.
Gordon has sat out the last three games because of a sprained big toe on his left foot, and the Clippers went 1-2 in his absence. Overall, they are 4-8 this season in games he has not played.
Gordon, who averages 17 points, 2.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds, said the discomfort in his toe has subsided enough for him to return to action.
The second-year standout also has learned that he has been selected to play for the sophomore team in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam on Feb. 12 as part of the All-Star weekend festivities in Dallas. At halftime, Gordon will compete against Toronto Raptors rookie DeMar DeRozan in a slam-dunk competition, with the winner advancing to the Sprite Slam Dunk the following night.
Gordon said he wants to participate in the All-Star festivities and would not be tempted to sit out and rest his toe.
‘I definitely want to be part of it,’ he said.
