The bad news unfolded well before the Clippers-Grizzlies game even stared. Chris Kaman, newly minted Western Conference player of the week, tweaked his lower back in pregame warmups here Tuesday and will be inactive against Memphis. Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy, no stranger to back problems, said it came on an ordinary move.

A sneeze, perhaps?

Dunleavy hurt his back after a hard sneeze and missed the team’s game on New Year’s Eve against Philadelphia.

‘That’s what I asked him: Did you sneeze?’ Dunleavy said.

Next ... and there is a next: Not only is Kaman hurt, but Mr. Rebounder, Marcus Camby, has been feeling ill. The team was not sure whether it was food poisoning or flu or something else. But Camby looking very, very sick in the training room before the game. Not sure how much the Clippers will be able to get out of him tonight.

‘Other than that, everything is fine,’ Dunleavy said.
