Clippers' Eric Gordon in the running for the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk finals

The NBA said today that second-year Clippers guard Eric Gordon and Toronto Raptors rookie guard and former Trojans forward DeMar DeRozan of Toronto will compete in a dunk contest, with the winner advancing to the league's All-Star Slam Dunk finals.

Gordon and DeRozan will compete at halftimeof the NBA rookie game Feb. 12 during All-Star weekend. Each player will get two dunks and, based on the results of fans voting, the winner makes the dunk finals the next day.

The "dunk-in" winner will compete with three other players in the dunk contest. The league will announce the other three finalists next week. The Knicks' Nate Robinson won the dunk contest last year.
