Bryant selected to 12th All-Star game

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was selected to the All-Star game, joining Phoenix guard Steve Nash, Phoenix center Amare Stoudemire, Denver forward Carmelo Anthony and San Antonio forward Tim Duncan as the Western Conference starters.

It will be the 12th time Bryant plays in an All-Star game, scheduled for Feb. 14 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Tex.

Lakers center Andrew Bynum finished a distant second to Stoudemire in the voting. Lakers forward Pau Gasol finished fourth among West forwards.

The starters for the East team are Cleveland forward LeBron James, Boston forward Kevin Garnett, Orlando center Dwight Howard, Philadelphia guard Allen Iverson and Miami guard Dwyane Wade.

Bryant had 2.46 million votes but finished second to James (2.55 million) in overall voting.
