The Angels do not plan to scout free agent Ben Sheets during his workout next week.

‘Not at this time,’ General Manager Tony Reagins said.

The Angels could use another starting pitcher, but Sheets could be out of their price range. Sheets reportedly would like about $8 million on a one-year contract.

Sheets is one of the top pitchers in baseball, but he has had an injury-riddled career. He went 13-9 with a 3.09 ERA for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008, but he did not pitch last season after elbow surgery.
