Angels add Joel Pineiro to rotation

The Angels filled the vacant spot in their rotation Wednesday by signing free-agent right-hander Joel Pineiro to a two-year deal that has been reported at $16 million.

Angelslogo Pineiro, 31, was 15-12 with a 3.49 ERA while throwing a career-high 214 innings with the St. Louis Cardinals last year. But he's familiar with the American League West, having spent most of his 10-year major league career with the Seattle Mariners, winning a lifetime-best 16 games in Seattle in 2003.

With the Angels, Pineiro will fill out a rotation left an arm short by the signing of  John Lackey by Boston.
