You’ve probably heard that hockey players are tough, able to lose teeth or take dozens of stitches without a whimper while fearing only that they might miss their next shift.

New York Islanders defenseman Brendan Witt has redefined just how tough they are.

Witt was struck by an SUV Tuesday morning as he crossed the street in Philadelphia, but he picked himself up, assured everyone he was fine, went to the morning skate and played Tuesday night.
