With the Bruins practicing this afternoon for their Pac-10 opener, coaches plan to run forward James Keefe through 15 to 20 minutes of full-contact work.

Keefe has been sidelined with a dislocated left shoulder but says he has recovered.

‘I’m feeling very confident,’ he said.

Coach Ben Howland did not make any predictions about the senior’s return, preferring to wait for another examination by doctors Wednesday. His thin frontcourt could use another body, even in a limited role, against Arizona State on Thursday.

‘If James can play, that would help us in terms of getting a little more rest for our inside guys,’ Howland said.
