Y.E. Yang widened his lead early in today’s third round of the Chevron World Challenge at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

The South Korean, who held a two-shot lead over the field after Friday’s second round, birdied the fourth hole on a cool, cloudy day to reach 10 under par.

Padraig Harrington was three shots back at seven under. Ian Poulter double-bogeyed the par-4 fourth hole to drop to six under par, where he was tied with veteran Kenny Perry after Perry made bogey on the par-five second hole.

The event, which pays $1.35 million to the winner, often is dubbed ‘Tiger’s Tournament’ because it benefits Tiger Woods’ charity. But the world’s No. 1 golfer isn’t playing in the aftermath of his sensational personal problems.
