The NHL will announce Friday that the Kings will host the 2010 NHL entry draft at Staples Center, June 25-26, a club spokesman confirmed.

The annual entry draft is one of the big dates on the NHL calendar. Besides being a showcase for young talent, it’s often an occasion for general managers to get together and pull off big trades, as the Ducks and Flyers did last June in sending Chris Pronger to Philadelphia.

The early favorites to be No. 1 overall next year, incidentally, are left wing Taylor Hall of the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League and center Tyler Seguin of the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL.
