A score by right winger Mike Brown with 6:46 remaining gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead over the Phoenix Coyotes after the first period at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Brown took a deflection off Phoenix goalie Ilya Bryzgalov -- who played with the Ducks on their 2007 Stanley Cup winning team -- and slammed it back past Bryzgalov into the net. The Ducks’ Petteri Nokelainen and Ryan Whitney were given assists on the play.

Ducks’ goalie Jonas Hiller, meanwhile, shut out the Coyotes even though Phoenix led with shots on goal, 17 to 10.

Both teams also had two two-minute power plays apiece but neither side was able to score.
