Ducks' Scott Niedermayer to be Captain Canada, Kings' Drew Doughty makes team

Scott3 Ducks defenseman Scott Niedermayer was named captain of the Canadian Olympic team for the Vancouver Games, and Kings defenseman Drew Doughty will be among the players he leads.

Doughty, 20, will be the youngest defenseman on the roster.

There were a few mild surprises: Calgary's Dion Phaneuf and Jay Bouwmeester were not selected.

The other defensemen are: San Jose's Dan Boyle, Chicago's Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook, Nashville's Shea Weber and former Duck Chris Pronger, now with Philadelphia.

We'll have more later when the Kings get to the Pengrowth Saddledome for their morning skate. Check back at www.latimes.com/sports
