Dodgers complete Juan Pierre trade

Pierre_300 The Dodgers officially completed the trade that sent Juan Pierre to the Chicago White Sox, as they received minor-league pitchers John Ely and Jon Link.

Ely, 23, was 14-2 with a 2.82 earned-run average for Double-A Birmingham last season. A third-round pick by the White Sox in the 2003 amateur draft, Ely led the Southern League in strikeouts and tied for the lead in victories.

Link, 25, saved 13 games and posted a 3.99 ERA in 48 relief appearances for Triple-A Charlotte.
