On Wednesday at Santa Anita, in back-to-back races for 2-year-olds, a pair of horses that could be Kentucky Derby contenders will be racing.

In the second race, an optional claiming event at six furlongs, the highly regarded Sidney’s Candy makes his return after being sidelined with bucked shins following an Aug. 22 performance at Del Mar in which he set a track record for 5 1/2 furlongs.
