It was not a good day for California Flag, the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint champion. He finished fifth today in the $1.5-million Hong Kong Sprint at six furlongs on the turf under jockey Joe Talamo.

Sacred Kingdom won by half a length over One World, with Joy and Fun finishing third. There were nine Grade I winners in the race.

California Flag was overtaken in the final 200 meters. The 5-year-old gelding won the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint last month at Santa Anita.
