Foxsports.com is reporting that the Boston Red Sox are trying to acquire San Diego Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez,

Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of Fox write that with the signings of John Lackey and Mike Cameron, the Red Sox may be willing to part with pitcher Clay Buchholz and outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury.

Gonzalez hit .277 with 40 homers and 99 RBIs for the Padres last season.

Ellsbury hit .301 with 70 stolen bases, and Buchholz was 7-4 with a 4.21 ERA.
