Ric Wilson, a national cross-checker for the Angels, has interviewed for the scouting director job with the San Diego Padres. The position opened when the Padres reassigned Bill ‘Chief’ Gayton, part of a front-office reorganization under new General Manager Jed Hoyer. Gayton will remain with the team in another capacity.

Chris Gwynn, the brother of former Padres outfielder and Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, today was named San Diego’s director of player personnel.

For the record: An earlier version of this post said Chris Gwynn was the son of Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn. He is Tony Gwynn’s brother.
