Veterans day quotes: Remembering Pat Tillman

Many athletes have sacrificed parts of their careers to serve the military in time of war. We honor all of them today by focusing on Pat Tillman, who sacrificed his life.
Pat Tillman gave up a multi-million dollar salary to serve his country. He is one of many who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Watch this tribute to Pat Tillman, and remember all of our veterans today:

LEST WE FORGET HE VOLUNTEERED...WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER TO KILL PEOPLE THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU EMOTIONALLY. AND WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER TO KILL FOREIGN PEOPLE IN A WAR MEANT TO BE NOTHING MORE THAN A POLITICALLY DESTABILIZING KILLING FIELD, YOU'RE VERY STUPID, INDEED...

Killed by friendly fire. Lame.

BaDaBing, I am filled with pity when I sense the narrow, ignorant mind behind your post. Pat Tillman volunteered to defend our country. He volunteered to go after those responsible for the cowardly 9-11 attacks that targeted all Americans: men, women and children. If you are an American citizen, I would find it appalling. More than likely you are some ignorant jihadist cowering in a cave, but if you are a U.S. citizen, I invite you to stand in front of our troops, because you certainly don't stand behind them.
Sincerely,
a U.S. Army veteran

Badabing:
I truly pity you. No doubt you are a miserable person with an even more miserable life. Between a hero like Mr. Tillman and you, who do I choose to defend my freedom? The answer is obvious.

Pat Tillman was a guy who thinks being a hero is killing other people simply because his dumb government told him to. Serves him right that his own dumb government shot the fatal bullets that killed him. He must have been one of these football players with a serious head injury. All these wars are wrong and pointless. If Pat Tillman wants to fight the people who were responsible for 9-11, shouldn't he have been stationed in Saudi Arabia? Oh, I forgot...they have oil, so we'll just go somewhere else and kill them.
Say, how's that hunt for bin Laden working out?

Wow what a sad misguided comment. The man passed on millions of dollars to serve his country and the people who died for our country before him, like all others who put their life on the line to serve they are great people and they all should be cherished. God bless our armed forces.

When I think of Pat Tillman - I certainly do not see a hero. A hero is not someone who leaves his brand new wife and family to fight a war that is ridiculous at best. His reasons were selfish. We attach the hero tag to easily these days. A real hero is someone who saves lives. He went to take lives and in turn ruined his family's lives.

Mr. Apicella, I find your comment "A hero is not someone who leaves his brand new wife and family to fight a war that is ridiculous at best." to be particularly sad. What do you think the first Continental Army did under George Washington? They were citizen soliders who left their families behind to fight for the freedom that allows you to spout such nonsense. The Revolution was considered pretty dicey at the time and victory was far from certain.
You also say that a hero is only someone who saves lives. How many lives have our soldiers saved by carrying the fight to the enemy? We have not had a "second 9/11" on U.S. soil. A large part of preventing that is squarely to the credit of our men and women in uniform.
YOU are the one who comes across as very selfish because you cannot imagine someone leaving their family behind to go and defend our country. Some people are just simply better than you. Thank God.
