UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel had his players throw snowballs, while his kid threw touchdown passes. UCLA players hardly seemed uptight heading into today’s game at Washington State. A snowstorm Friday night had a handful of Bruins outside throwing snowballs at each other for a half hour.

The frolicking was the result of Neuheisel’s instructions to go outside and get used to the weather.

The only one who seemed nervous about the game was Neuheisel, who spent the evening pacing the lobby and hallways at the hotel. It turned out it was another game that had him on edge.

Neuheisel burst into the lounge, where Athletic Director Dan Guerrero, Associate Athletic Director Ross Bjork and a highly respected member of the media were in conversation.

“Jerry just threw a touchdown pass with 30 seconds left to give Loyola the lead!” Neuheisel announced.

Neuheisel had been monitoring Los Angeles Loyola’s game against Encino Crespi via cellphone. Jerry Neuheisel, Loyola’s quarterback, threw a 46-yard touchdown pass on a fourth-and-11 play with 31 seconds left to give Loyola a 41-37 victory.
