UCLA football: George Uko, out-of-state talent take a look at Bruins

November 7, 2009 | 12:15 pm
UCLA continues to attract out-of-state visits, as Owamagbe Odighizuwa, Richard Ash and Aramide Olaniyan are attending today’s game against Washington.

Odighizuwa, a 6-foot-3, 234-pound defensive end from Portland (Ore.) Douglas High, has also made visits to Florida, Nebraska and California. He is ranked second at his position by Rivals.com.

Ash, a 6-4, 263-pound defensive tackle from Pahokee (Fla.) high, is ranked 25th at his position by Rivals.com.

Olaniyan, a 6-2, 215-pound linebacker from Woodberry (Va.) Forest High, is also being sought by Michigan, Miami and Notre Dame, among others.

Also making an official visit is George Uko, a 6-4, 283-pound defensive tackle from Chino Don Lugo. He had only minor interest in UCLA until recently, but Coach Rick Neuheisel has had a heavy hand in the last few months, those close to Uko’s family have said. The Bruins are back in the picture along with USC, Oregon, Oklahoma, California and Tennessee

Other high-end recruits expected to attend today’s game include Silvarius Ajawara (offensive lineman, Rancho Santa Margarita Tesoro), Hayes Pullard (linebacker, Los Angeles Crenshaw), Shaquille Richardson (cornerback, Los Alamitos) and Anthony Jefferson (wide receiver, Los Angeles Cathedral).

UCLA commitments Eric Kendricks (linebacker, Fresno Hoover), Tevin McDonald (cornerback, Fresno Edison) and Malcolm Jones (running back, Westlake Village Oaks Christian) will be at the game.

Also present will be players who are expected to enroll later this year, Taniela Maka (linebacker, Long Beach Jordan) and Jared Koster (linebacker, Norco)m as well as Willie Mobley (defensive tackle), who is trying to qualify by attending Orange Coast College.

Others taking a look will be Dres Anderson, a Riverside North High receiver who has committed to Utah; Corona High defensive end Chidera Uzo-Diribe, who committed to Colorado; and Everett Beed, a Serrano High who has committed to UNLV. Brent Williams, a Woodland Hills Taft defensive end who has committed to Washington, was expected to attend as well.
