You think your quarterback is young?

USC is playing this season with a true freshman, Matt Barkley, who turned 19 in September.

In the second half Saturday night at Tempe, Arizona State replaced starter Danny Sullivan with Brock Osweiler, who won’t turn 19 until Nov. 22.

Osweiler completed 11 of 27 passes for 153 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

‘This is the first time I have done this at ASU,’ Osweiler said afterward. ‘This is a situation that all I can do is learn from it, watch the film tomorrow and then improve on that area of my game.

Arizona State Coach Dennis Erickson said Osweiler made some good plays and also played like a freshman.

‘He is what he is right now,’ Erickson said, ‘a young guy who has a lot of talent.’

And one who passed for more yards Saturday than USC’s much-heralded Barkley.
