Dodgers: Manny Ramirez to return in 2010
Manny Ramirez will return to the Dodgers next season, according to his agent, Scott Boras.
Boras said that he informed General Manager Ned Colletti today that Ramirez would not exercise the escape clause in the two-year, $45-million contract he signed in the spring.
Ramirez will earn $20 million next season.
"Obviously, he enjoys L.A.," Boras said. "If he went into the marketplace, the real negative was that he could end up playing in a place he wasn't comfortable playing."

Yeah, right. No GM for any other team's going to touch Mr. Ramirhoids. He ripped off the team, the fans, his teammates. Now, he's a .267 hitter who can't get around on the inside fastball. A wreck like Giambi. I'm not happy he's a Dodger.

"The real negative was that he could end up playing in a place he wasn't comfortable playing" Boras said.
The real negative is that he would end up playing in a place for A LOT less money and in a small market we all know.
While Mr. Boras has a way with words and with General Managers he forgets that his lack of honesty is apparent for outsiders. This Emperor has no clothes.

Manny Ramirez is now Manny Cora the singles hitter. He and his agent ripped us off and I'm sick to my stomach. The fans should face reality and treat him like we treated Barry Bonds.

Dylan, dude: don't let Boras roll you like that. Everybody who cares knows that nobody else wants Manny at $20 million/year. You gotta write that stuff, you can't just let the agent write the story.

In other words, it's not about the money.
In my experience, whenever anyone says it's not about the money, it's almost always ALL about the money. :)

GREAT A $20 MILLION HOLE IN THE LINEUP. i would have cut him and declared the contract a fraud based upon Manny not disclosing that the his performance that the contact was based uopon was fueled by steroids. let him sue. the owners and the public would love a team to stand up to a roids user.

Can't Ned Colletti orchestrate Manny leaving with Jamie McCourt? It would be a match made in heaven...a size zero plus an integrity zero...net loss: zero. Call it addition through subtraction.

We asked for Manny desperately this spring, by the fall we were praying he would not come back.
He will be hurt most of the year and I bet Juan Pierre will play way more than this idiot.
He is the worst of sports, joining T.O. and Barry in the Hall of losers.
Torre can leave too if he continues to cover for Manny.

Scott Boras is only saying about Manny Ramirez that he "Obviously, he enjoys L.A." because he won't get the $20 million or more from other clubs if Manny opts out of his contract with the Dodgers (and risk losing $20 million). It's not being comfortable, it's that he will be making the most money by sticking with the Dodgers. Plain and simple.
