Diego Maradona has a whale of a time in Buenos Aires

It was coming down in buckets in Buenos Aires. The field was waterlogged. The fans were drenched.

But when 35-year-old Martin Palermo slotted home a goal in the third minute of injury time Saturday to give Argentina a desperately needed 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Peru, Argentine Coach Diego Maradona did something extraordinary even by his bizarre standards.

In case you missed it, here is what the pudgy one did.

Oops, no, sorry. Wrong clip. What Maradona actually did was this:

Easy to see how the mistake could have been made, though, what with all the rain and mist and such at River Plate's Estadio Monumental.

Argentina plays Uruguay in Montevideo on Wednesday in the final qualifier for both teams, with the winner getting all the krill. Oops, I mean getting to the World Cup.
