There will be no Breeders’ Cup appearance for Sea The Stars, the 3-year-old wonder horse from Europe who has been retired from racing after winning six consecutive Group I stakes.

Breeders’ Cup officials had hoped Sea The Stars would come to Santa Anita for the Nov. 7 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Sea The Stars has been recognized as one of the best horses ever from England after winning the Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe this month in what turns out to be the final race of his career.

Here’s a statement from Breeders’ Cup President Greg Avioli: ‘Sea The Stars has had an extraordinary career by any measure and we wish his connections the best and thank them for the careful consideration of the Breeders’ Cup.

‘We remain focused on the 26th Breeders’ Cup World Championships and the strong fields scheduled to compete, including the sensational undefeated mare Zenyatta.’
