NHRA funny car driver survives fiery crash at Memphis Motorsports Park

A couple of unknowns stole the show at the National Hot Rod Assn. races at Memphis Motorsports Park in Tennessee on Monday.

Daniel Wilkerson lost his rear wheels, crossed the race track into his opponent’s lane and crashed into the wall in the first round against Ron Capps.

Jeff Arend won the second NHRA funny car event of his career and made only the third funny car final appearance of his career.

Ashley Force Hood took over the lead in the funny car standings with a semifinal appearance. She has a three-point lead over Robert Hight after the races at Memphis.
