With the way the Tennessee Titans are playing this season, Coach Jeff Fisher could be testing a tough job market soon.

Maybe that explains why Fisher was spotted wearing a Peyton Manning jersey (photos) while he was introducing former Indianapolis Colts Coach Tony Dungy at an event in Nashville on Tuesday. Fisher jokingly told the crowd at the event that he wore the jersey because he ‘wanted to feel like a winner.’

Fisher later apologized on his radio show for wearing the jersey of a player many people in Tennessee still consider a god. Which begs the question: Why didn’t Fisher just wear Manning’s Volunteers jersey?

The Titans are 0-6 and are coming off a 59-0 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. Titans owner Bud Adams has said Fisher’s position with the team will be evaluated at the end of the season.

Fisher’s no dummy -- he knows his career in Tennessee is coming to an end. Perhaps his little Manning stunt could land him a job with Colts next season. Bill Polian (FOR THE RECORD: An earlier version of this post misidentified the Colts president as Jim Polian), are there any openings for a veteran coach down on his luck looking to make a fresh start?
