The Yankees rolled to the best record in baseball during the regular season and have yet to lose in the playoffs, which has earned them comparisons to the 1998 Yankee juggernaut, which won 114 games during the summer then rolled to a World Series title, going 11-2 in the postseason.

But Yankee Manager Joe Girardi, who played on that 1998 team, cautioned against those comparisons -- before going off to make them himself.

‘You have to win a World Series before you can compare the two teams,’ he said. ‘The ’98 team had an exceptional playoff where we won the World Series. As far as the similarities between the teams, I think there was a resiliency on that team. And I think this club has it as well.

‘The bullpen on that team was very good and I think the bullpen on this team is very good. But I think it’s unfair to compare until the playoffs are done and you see where you end up.’
