Toronto Maple Leafs fan becomes Dallas Stars fan with EBay's help

Attention Clippers fans: If the team that Donald Sterling built lets you down yet again this season, you might consider cashing out.

At least that's what a "very used" Toronto Maple Leafs fan did when he auctioned off his loyalty to the "original six" franchise on EBay this month.

Lee Kirby officially became a Dallas Stars fan on Oct. 20 when a bidder paid him $23.48 ($25 Canadian) to switch allegiances. Kirby posted on his auction page that he "will root for my 'new team' whenever they are on TV. I will argue with guys at work that my new team is the best, no matter how bad/good they are."

Kirby gave his allegiance-killing earnings to a hospital in Canada (which explains why EBay allowed the auction to take place).

Still, in these tough economic times, maybe right now is the perfect time to reevaluate our long-held, yet often unexplainable, loyalties to teams that haven't done much for us.

Thank goodness the Kings are off to a strong start -- I don't have an EBay account.
