Got a budding Wayne Gretzky in your house? A kindergartener who might be the next Teemu Selanne?

California’s major hockey organizations have teamed up to host California Hockey Day, designed to provide children from ages 4 to 9 a chance to try hockey -- the inline or ice version -- for free on Nov. 7.

The Ducks, Kings and Sharks are hosting events, as are the Ontario Reign and Stockton Thunder of the ECHL, the California Amateur Hockey Assn. and USA Hockey. Children will have access to equipment and instruction at 16 free events in the Learn to Play program. Each clinic will end with a short scrimmage to give them the experience of a game.
